Location:
At the extra point EX 18 it is 2 points on the back of the hand.
The first of the two acupuncture points is located between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones, slightly backwards towards the wrist.
The second extra point is located between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, also offset backward toward the wrist.
EX 18 — Lumbago Points
These two acupuncture points are used as remote points for acute back pain. Remote points are often more effective and above all safer in acute cases than locally applied points for the treatment of back pain.
The exact location of the points is found by looking for the most sensitive spot in the indicated area, i.e. between the 2nd/3rd and 4th/5th metacarpal bones. Place the tip of the AkuPen there and hold the pressure until the back pain subsides.
If you do this procedure standing up, circling the pelvis in both directions, the effect is even better. Intuitive movements with the pelvis can also be performed while breathing deeply into and out of the abdomen.

Application:
This acupuncture point is pressed with the tip of the AkuPen for 30 to 45 seconds, or simply until the pain stimulus dissipates.
The acupuncture point EX 18 should be pressed with the AkuPen if possible. If this is not possible, press in the pincer grip with the middle finger and thumb for 30 to 45 seconds.
Acupressure can be repeated several times a day (2 to 3 times) in case of acute problems.
The point is needled vertically, with a depth of 0.5 to 0.8 cun. Moxibustion is possible.
