Tue 4 "United valleys" - Hé Gŭ

Master point for pain in the head and face, especially for acne

 

- Location:

In the middle of the 2nd metacarpal on the radial side in a depression. The point is thus located between the thumb and index finger and is pressed in the direction of the index finger. You can vary the angle a bit and look for the most painful spot.

Basically, you look for the point by placing your thumb and index finger together and looking for the highest point that is formed as a result. Then one relaxes the fingers and lets oneself sink from this highest point into the depression of Di 04.

 

- Helps with:

Pain especially in the head area, neck pain, stiff neck, headaches, colds, flu-like infection, sore throat, cough, migraine, stuffy nose, dizziness, hay fever, soothing effect for all intestinal complaints, distant point for arm and shoulder pain.

 

Comment:

This item is included in the Pregnancy prohibited, as it is used to speed up the birth process.

It is often used as a remote point in the treatment of facial, oral, nasal and eye problems.

The combination LI 04 with Lv 03 is called "4 gates" and is very well known as it dispels wind from the head area quiets pain and calms the mind.

Di 04 also has a strong relation to the psyche and can therefore be needled to calm the mind and in cases of anxiety. In this case, the combination Di 04 +Le 03+LG 24 is used.

If you combine Di 04 with another very important point, namely Ma 36, you have a brilliant combination to strengthen the immune system.

 

Sp 06 "Meeting place of the 3 Yin" - Sanyinjiao

One of the most important acupuncture points for strengthening the spleen qi

 

- Location:

4 transverse fingers above the tip of the inner ankle (malleolus internus). In the middle of the inner side of the lower leg. Where the muscle is felt, just behind the edge of the shin.

 

- Helps with:

Loss of appetite, weight problems, fatigue especially after lunch, diarrhea, feeling of weakness in the lower extremities, menstrual disorders, in the absence of menstruation, disturbed libido.

 

Comment:

This point is used in Chinese medicine to tonify the spleen energy. It is often used in combination with the point Ma 36. Due to our diet, many people suffer from a Spleen-Qi deficiency, which manifests itself in sweet cravings, tiredness after lunch, general fatigue and weight problems. 

Another area of action of this point is that it removes moisture from the lower of the 3Warmers removed. Thus, it also has a specific effect on the urinary tract and is used here for micturition disorders, dysuria (pain during urination) and cloudy urine.

MP 06 is also an important point to strengthen blood and yin and is therefore used for blood deficiency and yin deficiency.

St 36 "Three Miles of Foot" - Zú Sān Lĭ

- Location:

4 transverse fingers (3 cun) below the lower edge of the patella (kneecap) on the tibialis muscle. The easiest way to find the point is to place the palm of your hand on the kneecap and then spread your fingers. The point Ma 36 is located where the ring finger comes to rest on the outside of the tibia.

 

- Helps with:

indigestion, bloating, constipation, stomach pain, fatigue, headache, loss of appetite, blurred vision

 

Comment:

This point is a prominent point in TCM because it strengthens the post-heaven qi. What is meant by this is that it strengthens the stomach and spleen. So those organs that are responsible for our energy absorption through food.

Ma 36 is a general toning point for the whole body, but also for the psyche, and is used for all symptoms of fatigue, tiredness and weakness.

Together with MP 06, Le 03 and Di 04, it is one of the most famous and frequently used points in Chinese medicine.

 

Lv 03  "Great Meeting" - Tài Chōng

Source point of the liver meridian, most important point on the liver meridian

 

- Location:

The point is located on the dorsum of the foot between the 1st and 2nd toes, at the end of the "groove".

 

- Helps with:

Headache, migraine with sensitivity to light, menstrual problems, nausea, abdominal pain, general tension relieving, detoxification, constipation, stagnation of liver qi.

 

Comment:

This is an important item for eliminating fullness in the liver, it is somewhat milder in effect than Le 02.

Le 03 has a special effect on cramps and muscle tension.

It has a profound and calming effect on the psyche and is indicated for very tense, impatient and stressed people. This function is missing the point Le 02. For this purpose the point is gladly used together with Di 04. Together they belong to the most important acupuncture points and are called the "Four Gates".

 

KG 4 "Gate of origin qi" - Guanyuan

- Location:

4 transverse fingers (3 cun) below the navel

 

- Helps with:

Diarrhea, problems urinating, period disorders, premenstrual syndrome, infertility, impotence, lack of strength.

 

Comment:

This is the most powerful point to tonify Qi and blood and strengthen body and soul. It strengthens the kidney and thus the original Qi. Thus, it is an important point to increase overall vitality and it helps with chronic diseases.

KG 04 has a grounding effect on the spirit of man, in that it offers us a center where we can gather and come to rest.

 

KG 5 "Stone Gate" - Shí Mén

- Location:

3 transverse fingers (2 cun) below the navel

 

- Helps with:

Diarrhea, problems urinating, period disorders, premenstrual syndrome, infertility, impotence, lack of strength.

 

Comment:

The effect of points KG 4,5,6 are similar and therefore we have combined them.

If we take a closer look at the point KG 05, it has a special effect on the 3-fold warmer. It also strengthens, like KG 04, the origin Qi. However, more by the fact that he better coordinates the "3 combustion chambers of the body".

The task of the 3-fold warmer is to regulate the absorption, transformation and elimination in the body. The better this works, the more vital and healthy the whole body is.

KG 6 "Sea of Qi" - Qì Hăi

Strengthening point of the body - the sea of energy!

 

- Location:

2 transverse fingers (1.5 cun) below the navel

 

- Helps with:

Diarrhea, problems with urination, period disorders, premenstrual syndrome, infertility, impotence, lack of strength, physical and mental exhaustion.

 

Comment:

The effect of the points on the lower abdomen overlap and yet can be very differentiated. While KG 06 strengthens more the Qi, KG 04 strengthens more the blood. This can be explained by the fact that KG 04 acts on the small intestine, which is involved in blood production.

Furthermore, KG 06 moves qi, while KG 04 has no qi-moving influence, although both strengthen qi.

KG 06 affects all abdominal organs, while KG 04 has more of an effect on the uterus.

KG 06 additionally strengthens the spleen, while KG 04 strengthens the kidneys.
