Headache at the back of the head

Application: 1-2 times a day

There are different causes for headaches and it can be quite a challenge to get this problem under control. Nevertheless, TCM has a wealth of experience to offer in the treatment of headaches. The whole thing requires patience, though. It is not done with a few individual applications. This cannot be emphasized enough, especially with this problem. Especially with headaches, people are used to quickly swallowing a painkiller and feeling better.

Self-acupuncture works more slowly, but more persistently, because it treats the problem at its root.

I would like to explain to you exactly how this works by means of the individual points presented here.

To do this, you need to know that there are several triggers for headaches. The most important are:

  • Physical triggers such as neck tension or eye problems.
  • Nutritional causes
  • Emotional triggers such as stress, anger, depression, etc.

If one were to see a TCM doctor who performs an exact diagnosis, then he could decide what the exact reason is. Based on this diagnosis, he then gives the appropriate acupuncture points for treatment. Since we can't do that in our case, the program is designed to work on all 3 triggers mentioned. However, we pay for that by making the program a little longer. Therefore, it may well be that after a few weeks of practice you will notice that you are having success with individual points as well. It is not always mandatory to do all the points. It is an interesting task to find out how many points you need minimally. To do this, you can simply experiment with individual points and then find your personal headache protocol.

Dü3 This point releases tension in the area of the shoulder girdle. Since these tensions can radiate upward through the neck to the head, we do not want to forget this point. It also improves the function of the small intestine. Good small intestine function is extremely important for optimal digestion. This is because the large intestine must break down the smallest food components so that they can be absorbed. If this function is disturbed, we can suffer from a nutrient deficiency despite eating good food, which can also lead to headaches as a result.

Bl60 The Bl60 point lowers the energy down along the bladder meridian. It generally relaxes the back and thus also helps to relieve tension in the shoulder-neck area.

Bl2 This point acts locally on the frontal lobe of the brain, the area that becomes overactive during stress. In addition, it relieves tension in the bladder meridian. If we look at the course of the bladder meridian, we can see that it runs all over the head and down the back to the toes. Headaches can also originate from the entire back and radiate upward. With this point, we release the blockages along this important pathway and ensure that no tension radiates upward into the head here.

Bl10 This point acts locally and is extremely important. Because it acts on our brain stem. This is an area of the brain that is responsible for breathing, among other things, and also represents the transition from the brain to the spinal cord. Many vessels and nerves run through here. When this area is tense, the effect is felt negatively throughout the body. So we want to relax this point and thus create good conditions for headaches to dissolve.

Di4 Nothing really needs to be said about this point. It is one of the 3 most important acupuncture points of all. In addition, it is the! Pain point for everything in the head area. So if you can't think of anything to acupressure, then take this point. It has a very positive effect especially on headaches!

KG24 This point releases tension along the conception vessel, which runs across the midline of the front of the body. It is a point that acts over the opposite side of the body. So in our case, the pain is at the back of the head, so we also use a point on the front of the body.

Le3 The third of the most important points of all, also has a lowering direction of action on the Qi. On the other hand, it has an effect on the psyche and relaxes emotionally, which can also be very helpful with headaches. On the other hand, liver qi blockage is a common trigger of headaches in TCM. This is because the liver generally regulates the tension of the muscles in the body. If there is congestion here, we have increased muscle tone throughout the body, which is a good condition for developing a wide variety of pain conditions, especially headaches. With this point we want to increase the effect here.

Qi Gong

The word Qi Gong consists of 2 syllables - Qi and Gong. The Chinese term "Qi" can be translated for us most likely by "life energy". But it contains more than this. It also means breath and air. In Chinese medicine, Qi is considered to be the invigorating force that flows through all living things. However, Qi is not only inside the body of a living being, but also outside. Qi also shows itself to us in nature. Thus animals, flowers and trees are flowed through by Qi. Qi is the living force that is inherent in everything and that makes life possible.

The Japanese call this force "Ki". In India it is called "Prana". It always means the same thing - the power and energy that is inherent in everything and keeps us alive. In Chinese medicine, health is only possible when the Qi in our body is pure, not polluted and can flow freely.

Due to bad living habits, in the course of time, energy blockages can occur in the body system and as a result, diseases can manifest, which can be physical or psychological in nature. Generally speaking, we can say that a living person has Qi throughout the body.

The word "gong means roughly "body work" or "success through perseverance and practice". Therefore Qi Gong is called "Work with the life energy". We learn to improve the flow and distribution of Qi in our body through movement and concentration to strengthen our health and bring body and mind into harmony. At the same time we learn to stand correctly, between heaven and earth. This significantly improves posture and many aches and pains disappear on their own.

Qi Gong is a holistic healing system with a long tradition, which has been continuously developed until today. It includes health-promoting postures, movement, self-massage, breathing techniques and meditation. Through these various exercise methods, Qi is supposed to be collected and stored in the body, like in a reservoir. The goal is to expel the impure Qi and absorb fresh pure Qi.

Qi Gong is not a medicine that is prescribed for a limited time, but rather it should be practiced daily. In this regard, 20 minutes of daily practice is enough to improve health and one's well-being to a great extent.

Anyone can practice qigong. There are exercises for every age and every state of health. The exercises can be practiced standing, sitting, lying down or walking. So even physically challenged people can easily practice Qi Gong and improve your health in a sustainable way.

Chinese herbs

The herbal therapy is called "the queen of TCM" in traditional Chinese medicine. This underlines its high status. Herbs form an important foundation of TCM and have a profound effect on the human organism. They can replenish deficiencies, expel states of fullness, warm or cool the body. They are generally referred to as herbs. Nevertheless, minerals are also used in the recipes.

Herbs are usually prescribed after a thorough diagnosis by a doctor. In this diagnosis, in addition to a conversation, attention is paid to the pulse, tongue and overall appearance of the person. Nevertheless, there are herbal mixtures that have proven themselves over the centuries for various problems.

We have made suggestions for all clinical pictures for such proven recipes. Nevertheless, in many cases it may be necessary to consult a doctor or therapist. Based on the individual situation, this person can recognize how the energetic situation really is at the moment and, based on this, recommend the optimal herbal mixture. Of course we do not have this possibility, because we cannot meet you personally. Nevertheless, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we will try to help you as much as possible.

For many disease patterns there are 2-3 herbal suggestions. The first suggestion is always the one that from my experience is suitable for most people. However, if there is no reaction, then try the second mixture that is suggested to you.

However, herbal therapy needs some patience, because in most cases it works slowly and subtly. In return, there are no side effects and the effect is very long-lasting.
