The Triple Burner Meridian

The Yang Pathway of the Fire Element

The Meridian triple burner together with the pericardium meridian the secondary fire element. The Fire element is generally associated with the summer. That is, the season when it is usually warm and everything in nature is in full bloom.

The triple burner meridian is the only meridian which does not have a corresponding organ. Rather, it is a functional unit within the body that regulates, among other things, the body's absorption, processing and excretion.

Wolfgang's Pro Tip

Combine the two movement systems Meridian Yoga and Qi Gong and increase their effect. In the morning, when the body is still a bit stiff, you can start the day with 15 minutes of Qi Gong and get the energy you need. In the evening, you can let go of the day with 15 minutes of meridian yoga and regain your composure.

Qi Gong for balance of the triple burner energy

Another very elegant and effective way to increase your personal energy comes from TCM. Qi Gong is a millennia-old art of movement, which is one of the 5 pillars of the Chinese medicine forms. The exercises are easy to learn and here I'll show you my favorite exercise to balance the 3-fold energy of warmth.

The triple warmer meridian begins at the nail fold angle of the ring finger on the small finger side and runs from there between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones over the back of the hand to the wrist.

2 cun behind the wrist crease, exactly in the middle between ulna and radius, is the important acupuncture point TB 05.

The 3-fold meridian continues along the outside of the forearm to the elbow.

From this, it goes upwards via the outer head of the triceps muscle to the shoulder, where it is located in the posterior depression of the deltoid muscle. The two depressions are revealed when the upper arm is raised laterally.  The 3-fold heating point is located in the rear of the two recesses.

The triple burner meridian now runs along the scapula bone to the shoulder point TB 15, which is located halfway down the spine on the trapezius muscle.

It follows this muscle upward to the prominent acupuncture point 3E 17 behind the mastoid process at the back of the head.

From 3E 17 goes around the ear to the jaw point TB 21which is located at the upper edge of the ear opening in a depression that can be felt when you open your mouth slightly.

Here it runs only upward to the outer edge of the eyebrow, where it ends with the point 3E 23.
